Earlier this year a colleague of mine had an Alfa Romeo and kerbed it, meaning she needed a new alloy wheel. She took it to Kwik Fit, and left it with them while they got a quote because they didn't have any in. Meanwhile, she decided to go to the local Alfa dealer at lunchtime, who said a wheel and tyre would be about £400. However, as she walked past a service bay she spotted a very familiar looking wheel, yes hers. She decided to keep quiet until Kwik Fit called her, and when they did they quoted £600. Not a bad mark-up for, doing pretty much nothing. They even denied taking the wheel to the Alfa dealer.
